Dr. David P. L贸pez is the executive director of The Maestros Accelerator Program. The program identifies, cultivates and guides middle school, high school and community college students into teaching as a career.
Dr. L贸pez brings more than 35 years of experience in preschool to higher education to the role as he continues to work to expand access to affordable, quality education for Latinos and other underserved students. Prior to his current role, he served as The National Hispanic University's President and Chancellor from 2003-2013.
Dr. L贸pez was twice appointed to the California State Board of Education and also served on the California Postsecondary Education Commission. Locally, he serves on the board of directors of the Silicon Valley Children's Fund. In 2014, he received the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators 1st Annual Trail Blazer Award, as well as the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education Alfredo G. De Los Santos, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award in Higher Education.
He earned his Doctor of Education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction at New Mexico State University. He earned a master鈥檚 degree in educational administration at New Mexico Highlands University and his B.A. in elementary education from the University of New Mexico.
