Luis V谩zquez is currently serving as associate vice president for research integrity in the office of the vice president for research. He has held the position since 2011. A researcher in his own right, V谩zquez as co-PI was recently awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to work with underrepresented engineering students in enhancing academic success. He was also invited to serve as a panel reviewer for the NSF.
鈥淚f you鈥檙e going to do research, it should be to improve people鈥檚 lives,鈥 said Dr. V谩zquez, who started at NMSU in 1995 as an assistant professor in the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department in the College of Education. 鈥淲hat we do at NMSU changes people鈥檚 lives. We transform lives through research.鈥
Dr. V谩zquez pointed out that as a land-grant university, NMSU has a responsibility to help others not only in teaching and outreach, but also in engaging in collaborative research activities with the community and state, as well as nationally and internationally.
